17th of April: European Election Debate

Poster final

The Dublin Law and Politics Review, ELSA DCU and #ThisTimeImvoting campaign have organized “The Great European Election Debate“. This debate will take place on Wednesday the 17th of April from 14:00-16:00 in the Solas Room of the U-building.
The event will host three running candidates from Social Democrats, The Green Party and Labour and a party representative from Fine Gael. These parties will be discussing three topics and are open for your questions.
The Rule of Law crisis. With Poland and Hungary abolishing the free press, diminishing the independent justice system and evicting universities. What should the EU’s policy be?
Financial Stability can we keep the economy stable? Europe suffered badly under the European Economic crisis, is Brexit going to cause the next recession? How do we approach the Italian budget deficit?
And last but not least Terrorism and Security how do we keep Europe safe? With bomb attacks in the Netherlands, Germany, France and the I.R.A. resurfacing how do we keep our Union safe?
The event will give you the opportunity to learn more about the EU and ask your questions to EU law students and discuss your ideas with running candidates. Since all of the topics will be introduced by the panel chair no previous knowledge is required. As usual, the event is free of charge and everybody is welcome – including friends, family etc.
